$900,000 for Delaware Anti-Distraction Project Transportation Secretary LaHood



Dover- U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today that the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) will receive $900,000 in federal support to expand the Department’s “Phone in One Hand, Ticket in the Other.” pilot enforcement campaign to reduce distracted driving. “We thank Secretary LaHood for personally coming to Delaware to announce this grant. Road construction work on U.S. 218 near Janesville will require shifting all northbound traffic onto one of the newly constructed lanes beginning the week of June 11, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. At Marquis Road/Seventh Street, the new northbound lanes will be 320 feet east of the existing southbound lanes. This area will operate as two separate intersections, each with traffic signal systems that are independent from one another. Motorists are reminded to watch for and obey the traffic signals at both of these intersections. MDOT to open temporary ramp off I-94/I-69 for Water Street businesses in Port Huron Township. Westbound I-94/I-69 traffic is currently maintained on the eastbound side of the freeway between Lapeer Road and Pine Grove Avenue. The ongoing reconstruction/widening of I-94/I-69 is part of a $90 million investment. This temporary ramp will allow customers to reach Water Street businesses during construction. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) plans to open a temporary ramp leading from I-94/I-69 to Water Street on Friday, May 25, to allow westbound traffic to exit onto the access road that connects Water Street and the Lapeer Connector. Currently, two-way traffic is maintained on the eastbound side of I-94/I-69 so that crews can reconstruct the westbound lanes from Pine Grove Avenue to Lapeer Road.
