Five people died Sunday in a fiery accident when a car driving on the wrong side of a suburban Detroit freeway collided with another vehicle, the Detroit Free Press reported. Michigan State Police said the two cars caught fire after one driving illegally against traffic slammed into the other in Southfield, about 15 miles northwest of Detroit. Four high school football players were killed, and four others were injured, in a car wreck on the Garden State Parkway on Saturday morning. Two of the teens were ejected from the vehicle in the crash when their SUV flipped and rolled over several times; the eight boys, all from Mainland Regional High School, were on their way to a team breakfast to celebrate the start of football season. The driver of the car, 17-year-old Casey Brenner, lost control as they approached a traffic jam in Egg Harbor Township, near Exit 38A in the southbound lanes, at around 11:45 a.m. Brenner, who was thrown from the car, as well as passengers Dean Khoury, 15, and Nick Conner, 16, died at the scene. “Prepare to be at the center of attention when you rent this car” reads the description on exotic car rental company Gotham Dream Cars’ page for the Ferrari F430 that killed a motorcyclist when the two collided head-on yesterday morning in New Jersey. The incident occurred outside New Jersey’s MetLife stadium, where the luxury car rental company was preparing for its “Dream Car Sprint” event which sees members of the public rent short periods of time in exotics, driving them on an autocross course in the stadium’s parking lot.
