Two Killed In Iowa Driver Charged After Accident

Three people were injured Thursday in a two-car accident on Sixth Street Southeast near Delaware Avenue. Police said Allysha Isbell, 17, was driving a 1998 Pontiac eastbound in the 100 block of Sixth Street Southeast. She turned from the right lane into the path of a 2004 Oldsmobile driven by Melissa Harper, 32, of Mason City, also eastbound on Sixth Street Southeast. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating an accident in western Iowa that killed two people and injured five others. The crash happened around 9:00 Saturday morning. Both vehicles were headed northbound on Interstate 29, near the city of crescent. One car tried to change lanes and pass the other vehicle when it lost control and struck the vehicle. The driver of a Mason City fire department ambulance has been ticketed in a collision that happened on the way to the hospital. The driver and two other firefighters were taking a person to the hospital when the ambulance was broadsided by an SUV on Sunday. Police say the ambulance approached the intersection while the light was red, slowed down and then continued through the light. Police say ambulances are required to come to a complete stop before proceeding. Officials say the person in the ambulance was transferred to another ambulance for the trip to the hospital.
