The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is reminding motorists that a continuous left-lane closure on eastbound and westbound I-94 near M-39 (Southfield Freeway) will start Saturday, June 23. The lane closures and subsequent traffic shifts will allow crews to begin major repair work on the I-94 bridges over M-39. This work is part of a $13.8 million investment to repair the interchange. All work is expected to wrap up in October. On Saturday, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from Telegraph Road to Outer Drive from 4 a.m. to noon. From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., westbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from Oakwood Boulevard to Pelham Road. The lane closures are needed in order for crews to install the traffic shifts. In addition, crews will close the Pelham Road ramp to eastbound I-94, and the northbound M-39 ramp to westbound I-94.
