California Highway Patrol investigators are working to figure out what led to a deadly accident involving a Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy. It happened just after 11 Monday night on Highway 145. The collision blocked off traffic in both directions until Tuesday morning. Investigators took measurements of the scene along with other evidence to determine who is to blame for the accident. It appears the 25-year-old pedestrian was in the road when an on duty Sheriff’s deputy struck and killed her. Officers say Kristle Clowers was alone and wearing dark clothes when she was hit. A father of six has died after the California Highway Patrol says a drunk driver crossed double yellow lines and hit him head on. 53, died at the scene after a Chevy Astro Van hit his Cavalier. His wife also suffered critical injuries. Herrera was taking his wife to work when the couple was struck. Monday, the man who hired Herrera nearly 40 years ago to help on his ranch, says he became part of the family. A violent crash left one person dead and one person in critical condition Sunday night in Fresno County. The head-on crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. on California near Marks, between a van and a Chevy Cavalier. Officers say alcohol was a factor in the crash. The Highway Patrol says the driver of thr van veered onto the wrong side of the road when he smashed into a Chevy Cavalier head on, killing Gerardo Herera on scene. Officers say the driver of the van, identified as Elidio Gonzales of Fresno, admitted he had been drinking prior to the crash.
