The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has unveiled upgrades to its popular Mi Drive traffic data Web site, including a corridor dashboard to check road and traffic conditions on busy I-94, a major route for both commercial and passenger traffic. Both the Web and mobile-based versions of Mi Drive have the same address. Motorists can now check real-time color-coded views of traffic flow and speeds on both directions of I-94, all the way from Port Huron to New Buffalo. Motorists also can get construction information, traffic incident reports, information about the Blue Water Bridge and see message signs along the route. Right now, I-94 is the only corridor to select but more corridor views will be added over time. MDOT says it was responding to requests from users who wanted to be aware of conditions on the entire I-94 corridor before getting behind the wheel. The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that access roads near the Indian River Inlet Bridge will open prior to the busy July 4th holiday weekend. The contractor, George & Lynch, is currently completing the paving on the access from SR 1 northbound to the Day Use Parking Lot located on the southeast side of the bridge. The placement of pavement markings on the new access road will start Wednesday, June 27 and be completed within two days. Once the contractor has completed their work and made the area surrounding the roadway safe for use, it will be opened to the general public. Nighttime bridge demolition activities over the water will be concluding this week. Starting next week, the remaining bridge demolition activities should occur during daytime hours for the next six to eight weeks. During bridge demolition, the contractor will take steps to maintain the safety of the traveling public while continuing to maintain access to the park facilities and waterways.
