The M-50 (McDevitt Avenue) overpass above US-127 in Jackson County is open to traffic, two weeks ahead of schedule. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) closed the overpass in mid-March to finish this $2.8 million replacement project as quickly as possible. Shoulder closures and wrap-up work will continue until the final completion date in early September. The new overpass has additional safety features that include wider shoulders and a no motorized path located on the south side of the bridge. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is soliciting comments on a proposal to improve the Chevak Airport. The proposed work would include extending the existing runway; extending and widening the runway safety area; rehabilitating the existing taxiway and apron, extending the airport lighting, and relocating the Precision Approach Path Indicator systems. DOT&PF is initiating an Environmental Assessment in accordance with FAA Orders 1050. The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, Division of Program Development, is soliciting comments on the disbursement of transit match funds. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities SFY2013 budget (chapter 17, SLA 12, page 137, line 6) provided for $2,000,000 to establish a State Match Program to provide for a portion of the required local match to Federal Transit Administration and Alaska Mental Health Trust transit grant funds. It is proposed that these funds be distributed to eligible grant recipients at a rate of 37.9% of the required match. The Municipality of Anchorage would receive 25% of the available match funds.
