Iowa Department Of Transportation Commission

The Iowa Department of Transportation has received a $1.51 million Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The purpose of the federal initiative is to strengthen transportation choices to serve those who have served their country. Enhancing veterans’ and military families’ awareness of, and access to, transportation choices in their communities is integral to successfully reintegrating these men and women and their families. Both winners receive a $10,000 prize, donated by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to the state DOTs, which the winners then donate to a charity, nonprofit or scholarship fund of their choosing in the transportation field. The winners will be announced at the AASHTO annual meeting in Pittsburgh in November. The America’s Transportation Awards were created 2008 to demonstrate continue

Because online driver’s license renewal is more cost effective to administer and convenient for the public, the Iowa DOT remains committed to establishing such a system in the future; however, no firm date has been set.
The Iowa DOT is presently exploring options that may permit establishment of such a system without necessitating revisions to the Iowa Code. When a system is made available, the Iowa DOT will notify the public continue
