Kelli-Jo Denise Smith has been named as the victim of a fatal car accident Sunday morning that allegedly involved a drunk driver. Smith, 38, was a passenger in a truck that was hit by a Mercedes Benz, after the car ran a red light at the intersection of Bow Trail and Sarcee Trail.

A drunk driving accident in the Bronx earlier this month left a 23-year-old backseat passenger dead and an 18-year-old driver facing a slew of serious criminal charges, including vehicular manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. A spokesman for the New York City Police Department said the driver first struck a parked vehicle near Woodlawn Cemetery and then lost control of his 1998 Nissan Altima and crashed into a utility pole, which caused the backseat passenger to suffer severe body trauma. The driver and another 23-year-old passenger were also injured in the crash but were listed in stable condition at a local hospital a short time later.
