MDOT updates highway bridge information

MDOT has posted bridge safety reports online since August 2007. State bridge information can be downloaded by route number and/or county, and is current as of June 29. Only highway bridges greater than 20 feet in length are included; ratings for pedestrian, railroad and locally owned bridges are not included. MDOT is updating bridge condition information on the Web four times a year. “Monitoring the condition of state highway bridges and ensuring their safety is extremely important to MDOT,” said State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle. “Posting highway bridge condition reports online is more than a performance measurement for our department. It’s our way of keeping the public informed of steps we are taking to responsibly manage the state’s vital transportation assets.” National Bridge Inspection Standards require MDOT to inspect bridges every two years. The Mackinac, International, and Blue Water bridges are inspected annually, exceeding federal requirements. These continue

MDOT is proposing to resurface M-65 in 2013 from Turtle Road to School Road, and from Sherman Street to M-55, in Burleigh and Reno Townships. Work includes guardrail and drainage improvements. M-65 will be reconstructed in Whittemore with new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and storm sewer. Residents and business owners will have the opportunity to hear a brief overview of the project and talk one-on-one with MDOT officials about these proposed improvements. Meeting to discuss proposed reconstruction and resurfacing of M-65 in Iosco County. Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) representatives continue

M-104 will be reconstructed and widened from west of 124th Avenue east to I-96 in Crockery Township, Ottawa County. See attached brochure. M-104 traffic will be maintained using traffic shifts and lane closures. The westbound I-96 ramp to M-104 will be closed for short durations throughout the project. A signed detour will be in place. 124th Avenue will be closed south of M-104. A signed detour will be in place using 130th Avenue and Leonard Street from the west, and 120th Avenue and Leonard Street from the east. Advance public notice of the closures will be provided.
